The Deepening Whisper, The Growing Tumult (A Poem)

"G-d, You need me!"
I shouted to You.
"I can help You,
If You just help me now!

"I can spread Your Name!
I can answer the critics!
I can boost Your reputation,
I can market Your Word!"

No answer.

"How can You leave me here, in pain?
You, the Merciful One?
Is this the proper way to treat,
The one who can help You so?"

Still no answer.

"I'll give my entire life to you,
All my possessions, my soul!
I'll show them by the thousands,
Your clear Truth!"

Again. No answer.

"Okay, G-d, I need You,
More than You need me.
I have nowhere else to turn,
And I can help You a lot."

A soft rustle.

"You need me not at all.
Your world is perfect.
Your Word will prevail,
Precisely when You choose.

"I guess I can't rush things,
In Your plan for the world.
Or Your plan for me.
Everything in its time."

A gentle, loving breeze.

"I need You, for now and always.
I need to have a part in
Spreading Your Name, Your Word
For me. Any bit part,
Would be a great honor.

"Yes, You'll do just fine,
Your Will will be done.
But my only chance at eternity,
Is the small part you'll allow me..."

And a spirit lifted me,
And I heard behind me,
The sound of a great tumult...

Thank You for listening,
Great but Merciful G-d.
I'm not worthy.
But I'm yours.
